Shrimad Madhavendra Thirtha Swamiji

There are but a few stars, in the spiritual firmament of Bharata Varsha of holy men who entered Samadhi while alive(Jeevantha Samadhi)- like jnaneshwar at Alandi or Raghavendra Swamiji of Mantralaya. Shrimad Madhavendra Thirtha Swamiji of Shree Kashimath attained such a Samadhi at Walkeshwar(Mumbai). The devotees believe that such Saints still "live" in the samadhi and they grace their devotees on earth by their divine presence, granting the wishes of those who take refuge in them.
Swamiji, the seventh precpector in the potential lineage of the Kashimath, having headquaters in Varanasi, was the shishya of Shrimadh Devendra Thirtha Swamijiof the Kashimath. Both the swamiji of the math had travelled widely and in 1719A.D they had performed the renovation consecration(Jeernodhara Pratishta) of Tirumala Devaswom at Cochin.
After their Guru’Mahasamadhi and after the holy mortal remains were lead to rest in Shri Kashimath premises of Bantwal(South Kanara), Shrimad Madhavendra thirtha Swamiji became the pontiff. The pratishtapana of Lord Shree Varadaraja, the presiding deity of Shree Varadaraja Venkataramana Temple,Gurpur was performed by them in 1742A.D. Apart from this sacred event, the Swamiji was responsible for the building a Math at Walkeshwar,Mumbai, more than 200 years agao.
The Swamiji initiated a Vatu(boy) into sanyasa(saint) and named him Jnyanendra Thirtha, who unfortunately attained Samadhi(death, but this word is not used for saints in our religion) I Nasik while Shrimad madhavendra Thirtha Swamiji was still alive. Subsequently they had to take another boy as a sanyasa and named him Yadavendra thirtha(3rd)
As mentioned earlier, the Swamiji attained jeevantha Samadhi i.e Samadhi while alive in 1775A.D( according to Hindu calendar its shalivahana shaka 1967 during the month of Shravan Shudh Panchami of manmath samvatsar). Shri Yadavendra Thirtha(3rd) succeeded their Guru and became the head of the Math.
Presently we enter 234th year following th Samadhi of Shrimadh Madhavendra Thirtha swamiji in Vrindavan at Walkeshwar,Mumbai.
